Sleep apnea refers to a disturbance in the breathing pattern while a person is asleep.
What are the symptoms of sleep apnea?
- Gasping for breath while asleep
- Fatigue and the need to sleep at odd hours
- Breaks in sleep to take breath
- Waking tired
- A bad taste in the mouth at night
- Loud snoring
- Sweating while asleep
- Depression

How can you prevent sleep apnea?
- Watch your weight. If you are overweight, take steps to lose the extra pounds.
- Go to bed early and the same time everyday.
- Avoid sleeping in the day time to help you sleep in the night comfortably.
- Use a comfortable pillow that raise you head by 4-5 inches.
- Learn to sleep on your side.
- Eat balanced meals at the scheduled times.
- Keep away from alcohol and tobacco.
